Exterior Home Repair: Porch Railing

Work Performed: Here we are preparing to paint the railing after replacing 10 balusters and repairing the rotted section of the bottom rail. See below for the finished product.

Exterior Home Repair: Windows and Doors

Unfortunately, poor flashing techniques had allowed water into the building envelope causing severe rot along the sill, sheathing, sub-floor, and transom window. 

Before starting demolition, we took measures to seal off the rest of the house.

Unfortunately there were plenty of carpenter ants present. Once the rot was removed the compromised floor joists were repaired and the subfloor, sheathing and hardwood flooring was replaced.

After installing new metal and adhesive backed flashing, the door, windows and siding were installed. The final steps of the project entailed priming the trim and applying two top coats of paint for the trim and siding.
